Gary Johnson

Born in San Francisco, California and raised partly in San Francisco and Las Vegas, Nevada where he graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1963. Gary was the former executive director of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce and played a significant role in the development of the community of Henderson, Nevada.

In 1975 and 1976 Johnson was the Executive Director of Henderson’s Industrial Days Committee. The committee had a significant role in promoting the image of Henderson and in preserving Henderson History. This foreshadowed his later role as a member of the Henderson Historical Society that was founded in 2010.

He retired from the Henderson Chamber in 1995 after serving 23 years in the position. Upon leaving the Chamber, he held positions with the Clark County Department of Aviation, and later as the contract coordinator and special projects administrator for the Las Vegas Monorail. He was actively involved in other programs including S.C.O.R.E., one of the nation’s largest networks of volunteer, expert business mentors. He was also active in the Henderson Association of Senior Housing. Johnson was a lifetime member of the Vegas Wings motorcycle club, the American Motorcycle Association and the Vegas Valley Trikers. He was a member of the Henderson Rotary Club and recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow for his contribution to Rotary International. In 2010 Gary Johnson was a founding member of the Henderson Historical Society where he served on the Society’s Board of Directors.
